January 18th, many sites are going dark in protest of a new bill attempting to be passed by congress to censor the internet and charge people for "internet piracy". This internet piracy can be as much as linking to a video that you do not own, so much as using a millionaires song in a non-profit video that only drums up their popularity, and is nothing but good for them, and this "piracy" can get you thrown in jail. Not only that but if it's passed YouTube could be gone for all of us. It will even affect us here in Canada which is why I am against it. 1 country cannot control an international system, and I will not allow another congress that I did not elect tell me what I can and cannot do on the internet. You shouldn't let your own congress do so. SOPA will only harm the internet and we need to stop it. If you want YouTube to stay around, go dark today, January 18th, in protest so that we can convince them that this will ruin our only freedom, the internet. STOP SOPA.
