Pepsy Jay's mother joined the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and when he was about 2 years old his mother LUCIA AYUL struggled to make sure her son grow up from the struggles. Pepsy Jay's mom named Jay a village name called Dongi, meaning grow. The reason why she named him dongi is because she didn't know If he may survive from the war situation that they are Facing.
Pepsy Jay & and his Mom decided to join the thousands of people traveling to Ethiopia who had been told that they could be educated there and get a better life.
However, many of the people, Pepsy Jay included, were recruited by the SPLA and taken to village called Narus to start a new life but things didn't works right for them, in 1995 people told Jay's mom about Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, Pepsy Jay and the mom was excited ,Because they said that UNHCR provides everything for refugees. 1996 they travel to Kakuma Camp and start a new life and, that's where Jay started Singing and raping live after 5 years as a refugee in the camp. Jay's said there isn't nothing he loves doing than music. Pepsy Jay belives that the struggles facing motherland one day will stop, Pepsy Jay saw what mama Africa needed and that was,equality, Unity and justice for all. He also said is love in music of Emmanuel Jal,50 Cent,Lil Wayne, J.Cole and Nicki minaj,BobMarley, Lucky Dube,Yaba Angelosi,Dynamq,Bosmic Otim,Babe Cool,Mr Leng,Navio,Jua Cali,Jimw@t,P.Square,Osoufia Mkem,Baby Dalvin,Mavado,Vybe Kartel,Amani wa Kenya,Jonny Ragga,Nazizi,Nameless,Dboy, and Nyachan.His one of his favorite musics is Stronger and I am a War Child by Emmanuel Jal.Pepsy Jay found out that music is what he will stick with. When he move to America the land of of Hope, he decide not to let his a voice of Love and Unityis down,most of his songs are in African genres, Reggae/Dancehall, ,Reggaeton and Zouk. Hip Hop sometimes when he feels it.
