Band History:
Bolt Action started as a side project For 2 Americans living in China. Marc Hughes and Leon Clark met when bass player Clark was looking for a second guitar for the South China based Rock Opera band, One Nation. I got a tip from my drummer who was working in a music shop that some dude had come in the day before and tore the place apart. I had to track him down. When the band went on hiatus (due to the fact that the lead singer lives part of the year in Italy studying opera) it left an opportunity for new projects. Clark says he got a text message from Hughes.I want to play. I asked him what he had in mind and he laid out what he wanted to do, and I said Im in. What Hughes wanted to do was bring the punk rock attitude, combined with face melting guitar, and lay it over some old-school funky bass lines, and turn everything up to eleven. They would build a band that was based around the core of Clark and Hughes, but with personel and instrumentation that are adaptable to the gig and mission. No matter the crowd or venue, Bolt Action has snipers on the roof to cover all avenues. The drummer is Baterista Mariano.He is equally at home playing cool jazz grooves or knocking your taste buds loose when the band goes down the alternative road. A musical veteran, he brings years of experience to the band. The second guitarist is Mark McElroy. Jokingly referred to as Other Mark. One day Bolt Action was working on some licks at a jam session and Other Mark just started wailing on the guitar. The Band was not looking to add a second guitar, but he kind of left them no choice.
Front man is Adrian Ace Disgrace Eribal, former front man of the band Magnum Opus. Ace brings another level of intensity to the band. That guy is a ball of energy, and can really move the crowd. He has a seasoned voice that ranges from guttural growl to stratospheric screams. Fans of the band have likened a Bolt Action show to a jungle ambush, You never know what you are going to get. You can see them 5 times in a row, and you may get 5 different shows. The legend of Bolt Action was bolstered during the Mid-Autumn festival when they were shut down by officials for being too loud. This despite the fact that they were playing in the largest indoor venue in South China. Bolt Action was the first non-Chinese band to headline the Microstar Winter music festival in 2009 and Shenzhen Underground 2009
