I was able to overcome the fear of being rejected by being rejected a bunch of times. Then you stop caring about the outcome, you enjoy the process and suddenly you find yourself not being rejected.

It seems to me that our nomenclature is inadequate to describe the full spectrum of human sexual behavior. I'd be in favor of doing away with the notion sexual identity altogether and describing sexuality in purely behavioral terms.
