Annie Ruth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from National University in San Diego, California and is a trailblazer who has received critical acclaim for her work as an artist and poet. She is the author and illustrator of over 15 books, articles and inspirational commentaries. In 2002 she released an inspirational CD entitled Soul of a Sister and her song My Sista, My Friend is rapidly becoming an anthem for women's groups across the country.
Annie Ruth is active within the community, leading causes that impact women, children, the arts, and literacy. She has a passion for empowering women and has consistently established sisterhood projects that benefit the community at large. In 2005 she created "Dada Rafiki TM", a unique art exhibit and celebration of sisterhood that honors positive sisters in the community through art. Dada Rafiki TM (pronounced "dah-dah rah-fee-kee") denotes "sister friend" in the Kiswahili language of Eastern Africa.
