Authority: the right to command and to enforce obedience. Authority: superiority derived from a status that carries with it the right to give orders and to expect obedience. Authority: the power to require and receive submission.
Authority, whether it's government, a teacher, parents, the army, or religion-blind obedience is not palatable to the independent personality.
A freethinker is someone that forms ideas, especially ideas about religion, on the basis of reason. More importantly, a freethinker forms those ideas independent of authority, tradition and established belief. Finally, a freethinker rejects authority if that authority is void of reason.
Organized religion: Roman Catholicism, Greek Orthodox, Protestantism, Israelitism and Islam-to name a few, are oppressive and anti-intellectual. They contrive to control and deceive its followers with promises of a posthumous paradise for the obedient and threats of eternal hell for the rebellious.
Authority is not to be taken as the truth, but truth as the authority. No lie will live forever. The Rebel Alliance sees to this objective personally. The lies that have indoctrinated multitudes of people by religious authority will soon meet its demise. The clouds of tyranny, control, profit and power that have enslaved humanity by religion will soon diminish and the Sun, that has always been revered as a God-the true God of most religions, including Christianity and Israelitism, will soon shine its bright light on the darkened minds of all people.
