Coming straight out of Coney Island Bklyn, Amo1 embodies what a true "Brooklynite" really is...From his style to his slang to his raw no holds barred lyrics, Amo1 takes you back to the golden age of Hip Hop (1992-1998)..When you were judged on your lyrics and not your bank account....Amo prides himself on staying true to the roots of Hip Hop Culture.
Being introduced to the scene at the early age of 6 , Amo1 was already b- boying & writing graffiti by the age of 8.
On one particular night in 1984 , Amo snuck into a jam at United Skates of America which at the time was the hottest Brooklyn hip hop spot. Going almost unnoticed he ran past security & thru the crowd for a front row view of the Soul Sonic Force performing Play at Your Own Risk' and it was at that moment Amo knew he wanted to rock the mic. The next day he wrote his 1st verse and has been an Mc ever since, so by the time he was in high school where he met his future crew mates from *5MH (50 Million Hoodz), he was already cutting demos & rippin cyphers off of rap instrumentals. It was at 1 of these cyphers where he met his former partner Felony,an ill Mc from the LowerEast Side of Manhatten.
Since then Amo has put in a lot of work in learning the in and outs of the business , even more so when he met his producer and former member of the pharcyde,TREEZ, who has had his part in a hand full of tracks for artists like E40 & Xzibit and after linkin with him, Amo and Felony, who were better known as DeadlyEntitities** (D.E. for short); signed to D.E.P records in 2001,and started laying the groundwork for the album but due to the mistakes of the label never got released & Amo was able to step with all of his music...
Not wanting to deal with the industry bullshit again, Amo & Treez established a joint venture to start their own independent label .....Team 5ive Inc.with it's marquis artists being Amo1 & his 5mh crew.In 2005 Team5ive released "The DarkEmpire Ep" which sold a modest amount , strictly on the strength of internet and street sales with some additional consignment arrangements with certain record stores. With songs like "D.r.u.g.s"., which is an original take on the selling and using of narcotics to"RapDefinitions"a graffitti dedicated joint, Amo1 is soon to be well known & recognized as 1 of brooklyns nicest Mcs, not to mention being an original member of 5MH, 1 of the most influential Nyc graffitti crews of the 90's...
With 2 albums set to be released in the summer of 08' Amo has nothing but street bangers to brand his name in the game ...."2005MH" the album to the Dark Empire E.p; comes with a sound that is best described as straight "Brooklyn!"
With joints like "Bottom to the Top",Bound by Blood" to the collabo with his 5mh crewmates "7mc's",
Amo not only put a great group album together,executive producing & writing almost the entire thing, but his solo album entitled "Food4Thought" really allows him shine as a Hip Hop artist.
With tracks like the borough anthem "It's Brooklyn" which shouts out all of the neighborhoods he's stomped thru, the title track "Food4Thought", where he educates you with true street lessons,to joints like "What the World Needz" & "Finnesse", His material parlays his life experiences growing up on the streets of New York City.
Being noticed as one of the hottest up and coming underground artists, he recently won the $1000 Tuesdays competition at Club Pyramids, and on any giving night you can catch Amo1 & his 5mh crewmates rockin mics thru out the NYC.....So keep an ear to the streets and an eye to the stage cause once you hear or see Amo1 live or thru the speakers, you wont forget his name or his music....
