I am the "ADHD Doctor DAD".

My oldest son has ADHD.
I am a psychologist.

I have the urgent heart of a dad whose son has ADHD.

I have the scientific and analytical mind of a psychologist.

I have searched wildly with both my heart and mind to find the best options to help my son and my clients.

I understand good research and have sought it out in helping my son and my clients.

I understand parents who need urgent help.

I know. I've been there.

My son has overcome or managed his ADHD so well without medications that he achieved a 3.95 GPA his freshman year of high school. As he would assure you, and any assertive son would, that is all due to him and his great work and talent. That is certainly true. Not to mention that after doing Cogmed his guitar teacher sent us an unsolicited emailed that said he had covered 1.5 to 2 years of music in 6 months. Then he taught himself Farsi. He beat his mother in chess for the first time in his life. His social life got so active my wife and I began to protest because we felt like his personal taxi service. Obviously he has blossomed. His improvement has been dramatic and inspiring. Yet, the story told in these videos is a bigger story. It is a story that might include you and your family.

What you will see in the videos on this channel is how we got here. It took about 10 years.

It started with a different infant temperament. It went on from there. I started with the best parent training available by the best. We used best practices.

As you may have found yourself parent training is not enough. So, then he was on medications for about 2 years. He didn't like the side effects. Neither did I. I kept searching. Then we did EEG biofeedback, fascinating stuff. It helped. He improved enough to stop taking medications. But we weren't done.

One day in the spring of 2009 a school counselor who had seen a talk I gave on ADHD called me and asked me about Cogmed Working Memory Training. Cogmed Working memory Training turned out to be the most effective, powerful, clearest and cleanest approach I have found to date. It also has the best research. With my son and my clients it has had the greatest impact.

This is the approach I use with clients today. Yet in these videos and my blogs I share the wisdom and hard fought knowledge that helped us get to where we are today. It is complicated and interesting.

The journey I took to find Cogmed came over a period of 10 years. The success my son is now experiencing (freshman year high school GPA 3.95) came about partly as a result of these years of work and intensive searching but Cogmed had the biggest, clearest and cleanest impact.

The videos I provide to you are on the topics relevant for all ADHD parents and children and ADHD adults, but give you specific information about how I came to do Cogmed with my son and my clients and why.

They will also educate you about the reality that traditional ADHD treatment is not effective in the long run as was found by the best study of ADHD treatment ever done. You will come to realize that Cogmed can be a very valuable tool to help you and your family substantially in the marathon of ADHD management while the boost ADHD medications give you only make sense in a sprint but lack the staying power needed for the ADHD marathon.

Among the videos I will provide I will discuss behavior management (parent training), stimulant medications for ADHD, EEG biofeedback, Cogmed, side effects of ADHD medications, the startling and disturbing rise of ADHD/stimulant medication abuse and other approaches and strategies.

On a personal note I have been married for 17 years. My wife is an MD. We love to travel and have a blast with our 3 sons. I have two sons who younger than my oldest who is 15. As a matter of fact my other two sons have done Cogmed. Their results are similarly impressive. I am a huge sports fan. In fact my interest and enjoyment in Cogmed coaching and life coaching very much relate to my love of sports and the drive and desire to excel and help others to do so. I enjoy working out and staying in shape. I'm a Notre Dame alumnus and I love Notre Dame football. The Indianapolis Colts have grown on me. I was a childhood fan of the Pacers and I would love to see them make a comeback. I also attended Harvard University for a master's and had a blast. I love visiting Harvard. I went to DePaul University for my doctorate.

I love to laugh and to help people excel. I have a deep reservoir of compassion but I enjoy challenging people to do excel in ways that surprise them.
