The Bird
Inside my head,
a tiny golden bird resides.
It sits alone,
whilst from the light it hides.
Its tiny wings unformed,
not fully grown.
Fed by the golden grain
of inspiration sown.
Sometimes,
it pokes its head outside,
to look around,
leaps out into the air,
then falls,
and hits the ground.
I pick it up,
my tiny crumpled bird,
that tried to fly,
and place it back
inside my head,
I do not cry,
A silent smile,
'cause there'll come a time,
my tiny bird will soar
and to the heavens climb.
Its golden wings spread wide,
with awesome might,
when inspirations golden grain
sprouts up,
to meet the light.
