Tyrone D. Dixon
Director/Producer
Tyrone's debut film (documentary), 8 Wheels and Some Soul Brotha Music, www.8wheelsdoc.com, proved to be an inspiration to the making of Fox Searchlight's skating retro 70's feature, ROLL BOUNCE, starring Bow-Wow and Nick Cannon, which released nationwide September 2005. Tyrone was a valuable asset to the making of the Fox's film and worked as associate producer supporting director Malcolm Lee and producers Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr.. 8 Wheels garnered several film festival awards during its trial release in 2004.

Summer 2005 Tyrone used his directorial talents for popular Houston rap artists Bun-B and Juvenile (Gold In They Mouth) for independent label GHETTO LIFE. Tyrone, an American Film Institute (AFI) graduate, produced three short films and completed one feature length screenplay as his masters' thesis. Tyrone early production experience included a well-rounded currriclum covering production assistance, and both the art and the accounting departments on projects such as How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Players Club, and Boogie Nights.

Tyrone worked for 2/12 years in development as a creative executive and assistant to the president of Def Pictures, a Russell Simmons company. His experience at Def Pictures offered an in-depth perspective of filmmaking that included coverage of 100+ screenplays and development of projects on Def Pictures' production slate. This invaluable experience contributed to the development of Tyrone's intellectual understanding of the process of producing and directing setting him in motion to begin his filmmaking journey. Tyrone was also given the privilege of directing/producing many music videos for various independent artists .

Continuing to add to his resume, Tyrone directed/produced two more music videos and two short films for independent hip-hop artists. With these projects, Tyrone has overcome hurdles such as miniscule budgets, tight time schedules, and inexperienced actors. This experience has helped Tyrone to hone his directing skills, which stem from strong communication skills and an understanding of the creative collaborative process.

Ty rone produced Cool Women, a cable-network series executive produced by Debbie Allen. Cool Women was a documentary series profiling ordinary women accomplishing extraordinary things. Over the years, Tyrone had opportunities to carefully study and learn from directors such as Mario Van Peebles (Panther, New Jack City), Kevin Sullivan (Soul of the Game, How Stella Got Her Groove Back), Clive Barker (Hell Raiser, Lord of Illusions) and Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia). These resources as well as the knowledge gained make Tyrone Dixon a confident and capable director to be considered for theatrical features, television dramas and music videos.

Tyrone produced multiple featurettes and DVD content for Columbia/Tri Star Home Video. He has also produced and directed a music video for an independent artist from the Bay Area. Tyrone's line producing credit is the feature documentary Tupac: Resurrection, an Amaru/MTV production and unit production manager of independent feature film, My Dinner with Jimmy directed by Bill Fishman. In addition, Tyrone has worked on Spike Lee's project Sucka Free City, a pilot for Showtime.

Tyrone is endorsed by producers Preston Holmes (New Jack City, Malcolm X, Boycott), Debbie Allen (Amistad, Cool Women), Dwight Williams (How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Baby Boy) and Daniel Lupi (Boogie Nights, Catch Me If You Can).
