About Me:

Professional Cellist
Hometown:
Briarcliff Manor,NY
Country:
United States
Occupation:
Cello Teacher
Interests:
Music has been a big part of my life. I had always been doing something music-related while I was studying the cello. During the late eighties while taking time off from grad.school I had the oppurtunity to play electric cello in a couple of NYC rock bands. I continue to live out my experience by playing electric bass on the weekends ( in my living room). For teaching myself, I'm not doing too badly at it. Basically I like to get out whenever I can and see some of great acts of the day(the 80's rocked) and catch them when they come through my area.
Movies:
As of late because of this great page, I have had the chance to rediscover classic films and shows that I had not seen in ages. Bullitt, The Seven-Ups, French Connection I and II, THE EXORCIST(awesome, awesome film)The horror genre has become one of my more recent favs. Black Christmas,a great film(a big fan of Olivia Hussey in this film though Margot Kidder is quite interesting} Of course you have to mention all the other standard horror genre with new discoveries to mention such as My Bloody Valentine and The Burning. I think it's also great that those of us who grew up in the late sixties and early seventies can redisover old TV cartoons and chidrens' TV. This, in my opinion, was when TV was quality. Forget the CRAP! of today.
Music:
Those of you who may be classical musicians and who are cellists may know of the the short-lived, but at that time flowering career of Jacqueline Du Pre taken unfortunately by Multiple Sclerosis. She was one of my true idols when I was growing up. I loved her passion when she played. But we also cannot forget the great rock musicians and bands of the 70's and 80's hard rock and Metal era. In particular Black Sabbath(I like a select bit of the Ozzy era but LOVE the Dio years),Iron Maiden(no question one of the most melodic and musical Metal bands). W.A.S.P. awesome band and amazing songwriter in Blackie Lawless. Being that I also dabble in Bass Guitar I have to say that John Entwhistle was perhaps one of the most underated bass players of his time and influenced so many people like Geddy Lee,etc.
Books:
The classic English literature and historical writings

By the way, I`ve also added Satriani`s advice video to favourites one month ago. He`s the man, no contest. :)

Dude, your profile is great. I don`t agree with everything but the most of it. I guess you`re a Rush fan, apart from a Satriani one. Cool!
