Your comment about paper being just thin wood was a good point, but it's actually more like thin, dirty wood. Almost all papers contain a certain amount of clay to give them a smooth surface, and that clay is what is responsible for a lot of the edge wear.

@DeanSafe I ended up using a 2400 pack of BB's. The safe just rolled across the floor like it was on ball bearings (which it kinda was) and I just bolted it in place with the BB's under it. They give it a little air space in case the concrete weeps.
