I recently rediscovered New Boots & Panties after having not listened to it for about 30 years. It's pure class and one of THE all time great albums. The Blockheads were a truly magnificent group of musicians. My own particulat favourite was Norman Watt-Roy on bass.

The Blockheads were a group of quite brilliant musicians, and if you want to hear bass playing at its very finest then look no further than the incomparable Mr Norman Watt-Roy.

If you want to know how good a bass player can be then just watch this guy.

The Brits still produce the best music (try the likes of Adele and Elbow) but like everywhere else in the world these days they are fighting against a tide of commercialism, instant fame and crappy talent shows.

Pure class. Simple as that.

You listen to this speech and it makes you realise what short memories some of our "friends" around Europe have. I am referring particularly to the French, who would all be speaking German now if it wasn't for the Brits, Americans and Canadians.

This was my childhood along with Bill & Ben, The Woodentops, Rag Tag & Bobtail etc.

If you're going to cover a classic then at least have the courtesy to try and remain sober while you're doing it.

Trying to compare any other band with The Beatles is a totally futile exercise.

Respect to Gwen Stefani but the original by Talk Talk is considerably better.

This song is a classic. As a 50 plus year old it is one of the soundtracks to my life.

These guys should get down on their hands and knees and thank God that they were on stage with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.
