Some mistakes led me to serve a 7-year sentence in the Southwest Justice Center for battery assault and unlawful possession of a firearm (my gun permit was revoked). I would be serving life without parole, but was acquitted of murder charges.
My advice is learn all that you can and live your life without hesitation, for it is not meant to delve into regrets.
