I love the original Bob Seger, but Waylon and of all people Aaron Lewis (it's on Youtube as well) both took this song to a whole other level.

Just ordered the newest album, can't wait for the next one.

I downloaded the Texas Outlaws compilation album with this on it from Emusic a few years back. This track was easily the highlight of the album, and all but two tracks of it were great.

I read that this song wasn't so much a criticism of the war itself, but the manner in which it was being presented to young people by the military recruiters at the time.

Considering I was in high school at the time and watched the Army recruiters present it exactly the way the chorus describes ...

If you go back to the original series books they were going as fast as warp 14 and 15 then. They explained this away later by saying the warp scale was revised.

I'm not a huge Staind fan, like a couple of their songs, but everything Aaron Lewis has done solo like this is just beyond amazing. His country songs have been pretty damned good too.

It's sacrilegious to say it, but I like this version better than Metallica or Seger.
