About Me:
We were working at the recording of the first CD, Flowers. During a short break, Mario, still sitting at the piano, asks for the recorder to be kept on: he has something in his head. After a few introductive notes, which almost create an atmosphere of suspense, the first melancholy descending sequences emerge. Everyone supposes he is taking a few musical jottings to develop later: though the harmonies are assertive, without any correction, the pauses between a phrase and the next suggest a research, an exploration, which seems to be about to stop at any moment. But, while we are listening motionless, the item expands into a sequence of movements, which lead us from emotion to emotion, from adventure to adventure, finally leaving us with the impression of a coherent design, rich in evocative nuances and in emotive intensity. So it is decided to leave the recording as it is, unique, unrepeatable; and, as far as I can remember, Mario has never played Every Time It Ends again as he did that time. Armando Rodilosso
