From Elton's 1976 album "Blue Moves". The song is about the French singer/actress Edith Piaf. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics and then Elton wrote the music, with help from his guitarist Davey Johnstone. Davey's guitar playing features heavily in the recording. The background vocals were provided by none other than David Crosby and Graham Nash! Beautifully done. The song has also been covered by Kiki Dee and Crystal Gayle.

What makes us different than other countries ?In the end we might be better served by our troops here in america.
