The most likely scenario would be that our race and planet is under strick quarantine.
Hell, we still kill each other in mass. We still think owning things is a path to happiness.
We have a group of elites who spike our food and water to dumb us down and limit our reproduction.
Those of us that are enlightened realize that happiness is literally all in our heads via nuero-peptides/endorphines, material goods have no direct impact on the release of the desired brain chemistry (happiness, tranquility, peace excet...).
And when our leaders (mostly psychopaths) , the ones who should be enlightened, fall into the group that still believes "things" are the road to happiness. How could any advanced race of beings have any respect for humans or want to interact with us.
Any belief to the contrary imho is delusional.
