@ROUGHCANE I remember the Bill Cosby Show and she did perforn this song, but this isn't it. I recall just Tina and perhaps the Ikettes perforning the song, Tina was wearing a long black dress and did a superb version. She also did Higher in a red dress with Ike and the band.

Too bad America didn't appreciate Tina's brilliant performance of this song when it was released. Her vocal range and ability were realized in this song like none before, and this video also captures her dynamic stage presence.

@mobilarity In her book Tina reveals they corn rowed their own hair into tight braids and clipped the wigs on to the braids. They basically pinned them down on to their scalps. I can only imagine how hot it must have been under all that hair.

@MrAnthony78666 Tina gave birth to two. Her first was by a musician of Ike's she dated. Her next was by Ike when they became intimate. She also raised two more boys of Ike's from a previous relationship.

She was just a young girl and had only been singing for a few years. But that she was meant for superstardom is evident.

Lucy obviously carried a lot of resentment towards Desi and there remained unfinished business. She praises him and then slams him and claims to not understand what went wrong. Her marriage to Morton seemed happier and yet she won't let him get a word in. Fascinating stuff.

I remember watching this performance on the Ed Sullivan show. I remember this set! She did Ode to Billie Joe too. It was a huge hit at the time and she and the song were a sensation. I was just a kid- in 4th or 5th grade. Wish the quality was better but damn! What a rare treat! Bobbie- whiskey...

Watched the original performance on TV in what 1968, 69? and had to wait till the late 80's to hear it again when it was included on a greatest hits compilation. Always remembered the great lyric "Cause for me, true love could be, 100 years away. Anf if it is, I'll wait." One her best.

@EricandDish She had (probably still has) thick, thick dark hair. Was fortunate to meet her and she was gorgeous, stunning. And most impressive- nice- a great gal.

@TheSurfinbird21 It was her beauty that brought her to Hollywood. She'd been a model in New York and was appproached to go to Hollywood as a show girl in Roman Scandals. She was so funny people often forgot how good looking she was.

I believe the young woman in this clip was married to comedian Jack Carter and they were friends with another comedian they introduced Lucy to- Gary Morton.

@lolflybiish14 Right! I was shocked they made this mistake. The Kennedy Center Honors is a major production- how could they possibly make a mistake like that?

Brilliant. Her voice by this time was shot, and she nearly was too, but god damn she could still pull out the magic.

@samael7 This concert is from the mid 80's and I think it was called Art or Bust. I also seem to recall the show was originally titled "de Tour".

One of the most memorable and hilarious routines from The Lucy Show- the whole scene is even better.

One of the best from the Patchwork album. But I Can't Get Back is my favorite.

Saw her perform at Magic Mountain around this time- she wore the ragged cave woman dress for the first half and this one for the second. She performed to a small crowd like she was performing for thousands.
