I think I prefer Gene's version too but this is still very good. This version was hidden away as Track 2 on a Goldmine CD "This Is Northern Soul", totally unlisted and I've never been certain who it was actually by so thanks for posting this and putting me out of my misery!!

Love this tune, and I would like to see the full length version of Quadrophenia ( apparently it was heavily edited ). AND .. its amazing to watch Gordon Sumner .. a.k.a. Sting .. a.k.a. "The Ace Face" try to dance as he really didn't have a clue!! LOL!!

If I'd ever heard this before then it had been totally forgotten ( in favour of the Velvelettes original ). It must have had some airplay as its listed on the Radio Caroline countdowns in October and November 1965 .. peaked at #53 on 7th November 1965. It was seeing it listed that made me look ...

Can't help but think that if Smokey had done a version with THE MIRACLES then people would talk about this song with the same reverence as "Tracks Of My Tears" or "Oo Baby Baby". Instead it was merely an L.P. track for one of Motown's less successful acts. Always LOVED this and its great to s...

@ombudlady .. SYLVIA did her own version of "My Thing" which used the same backing music as this version by THE MOMENTS and was the "B" side of "Pillow Talk" . SYLVIA wrote the tune too. Love this clip from Soul Train as well!!

What a great tune .. I've never heard this before, seems it was his 45 before "Slow Motion" back in 1971 .. sounds way ahead of its time. Whats the other side of the 45 like?

Remember this being played by ROBBIE VINCENT on his BBC radio show and rushed out to buy it when it got a release on Contempo in Britain .. there may have been a Contempo 12" version too .. in which case it could have been the first 12" 45 in Britain.
Loved it when I first heard it, still love...

There is a good reason why the jingles would sound familiar to U.S. radio listeners in the 1960s. The station was owned by the same people who owned stations such as KLIF in Dallas and .. has been mentioned .. PAMS.

Interestingly, the version of this on The Complete Motown Singles CD box set has a different set of lyrics to this. Which makes me think they got the wrong tape, or didn't realise there were two versions. :)
Love the tune either way.
