I am one of those who often find Callas's voice too ugly to bear, but this clip is quite felicitous, esp given that it is from 1962 when her voice was generally considered to have declined. She HAS technique. And drama. Unquestionably a great actress (duh, eh?).

Bob and Willie are a marriage made in heaven.

And this is one of the great songs of all time.

It's almost as if Townes wrote this for them (tho we will never forget Emmylou's classic version(s))

And I wish I looked as good in pants as either of those old guys.

Magnificent. A great singer and a great artist.

take it from a classical music fan: Shania and Willie are musicians of the first order, and the synch of this performance is pure magic.

@avaxtakaka Yes, i agree that Dawn Upshaw's version is best in the universe, the only absolute aside from the speed of light.

this is a GREAT quartet - BOTH the players and the piece.

the Brentano is a highly classy quartet.

They play the music that Felix wrote, and they get almost all of the notes and inflections in a moving and admirable way

the picture are TOTALLY WRONG for the song.

Morgana is, most legitimately, a legend.

But since she is purely an artist, who does things her own way,

she won't be to everyone's taste.

She is NOT a great singer from a purely technical point of view,

but, like Mabel Mercer, she is a unique stylist.
