I don't know what epic metal means but Brocas Helm belongs to the early scene of power metal. Epic Metal is something many hardcore power metal fans is calling it. Swordmetal is also common for power metal. Many pm fans consider Virgin Steele's music as epic metal because swords and early melodic power metal goes hand to hand.
