Star Size Comparison HD morn1415 - 251,232 views - 4 months ago
There are several videos circulating showing a comparison of the largest stars. I like these kind of things, and I wanted to try one myself. Probably because I also watched "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan as a kid. Actually my first Youtube upload. Hope you like it...

[ Introduction ]
I know what you are thinking. YAUDBZMV

Yet Another Useless DBZ Music Video

I, for one, am very sceptic every time I see a title that includes "Dragon Ball". In realistic terms, most of the videos that belong to this category are below average in terms of quality, if not even worth downloading and watching.

But I felt different about this specific video. I came across Erik's creation back in late 2001, when Anime Music Videos were pretty rudimental, and I was simply astonished. This video is the proof that even a DBZ music video can be worth respect.

[ Video ]
This is the dolent part. Since The original video was in a terrible format (asf), small size and extremely low quality, I had to find a way to solve the situation and port it to a decent format (mpeg4), making it bigger and higher quality. Even so, the result is not quite satisfactory, particularly due to the difficulty in finding the footage.

[ Audio ]
The audio of the original version was even worse than the video. I bought the CD and used a high quality compression, so the result should be good enough at this point.

[ Sync ]
The video was already in perfect timing, all I had to do was to replace the scenes and follow step by step what Erik had done in 2001. I did not want to add effect of any sort, for I believe the video was good enough without them, and they would have ruined the timing and the "2001 experience".

There were some minor modifications, though, mostly in the first part. I cut off the speech and inserted the sound of the wind of the original song in order to create the emotional climax.

Quiet Before the Storm

Three are the parts I liked the most:
1. [01:06] At the beginning the sudden switch of music perfectly matches the video. (this was kind of mine... ^_^)
2. [03:06] Woah!
3. [04:52] The end is not chronologically correct, but it symbolises the fact that the fight will not end.

[ Editing ]
The editing was done on a Mac running OS X Tiger on a Powerbook g4 15" 1.33 Ghz using iMovie HD.
As for some of the ripping, I used Mencoder from the Mplayer package, running debian Linux on the same machine.

[ Purpose ]
The main reason I remastered this video is because I wanted everyone to enjoy it. I was looking for it for a few days, and all I found were people discussing on forums about how they were trying to get a decent copy of the video, since the original was deleted from the site. Secondly, I hope this video gives Erik the credit for making such a production in 2001. Bravo.

About Me: I was born on December 8, 1985. My eclecticism si determined by the most variegated interests I have (in case you associate a colour to one each of them, as I do ^_^).
Country:
Italy
Occupation:
Film Maker. Video Editor. Web designer.
Hobbies:
1. First comes Cinema and Filming techniques. I enjoy watching a film in its deeper meanings and look into it as much as I can. I also find myself living in a constant state of filming, anything I see and feel could be easily a film scene, mostly due to my photographic imagination. 2. Then of course Music, my Last.fm profile defines pretty much my musical taste, so if you are interested in that you should take a look at that link. 3. I believe Japanese animation to be strictly connected to Cinema, but I want to differentiate the two of them, mainly for one reason. Westerns (meaningless word, but understand...) do not consider a cartoon as much as a Kurosawa or a Fellini. Right, but only considering "Western" cartoons. Japanese anime are masterpieces as much as a film with actors in flesh and bones, believe me when I say there is a huge difference between a normal cartoon and an Anime. 4. Since I was a kid I was interested in Drawings, though I am not very good at it I occasionally practice, juts for fun. 5. My love for Philosophy started in high school, since then, it never left me. 6. Then there is Computer Science, or should I say Informatics. You might think this is the end of the human sciences and the beginning of the technical stuff. To be honest I find that Computer Science at its higher level can be fused and connected with Philosophy, especially in fascinating subjects such as Fundamentals of Informatics. 7. Political activism, see my Meetup profile. 8. Expressions of freedom such as Parkour, Meditation and Martial arts.
