    Uncle Tupelo - Effigy

UT's incredible cover of the CCR classic.

Greg Graffin said it most succinctly: "The masses of humanity will always have to suffer." Your government does not serve you. It serves itself. Every government does. It's just that in this country (the United States of America), by the people and for the people is supposed to mean somethin...

Uncle Tupelo - I Wanna Be Your Dog

One of the best covers from one of the best bands to ever exist.

I've seen Nirvana, NIN, The Pixies, Bad Religion, NoFX, Rancid, Bob Mould, The Misfits, Sonic Youth, and legions of others. Who could put on a better show than any of the others? Uncle Tupelo. So far underrated that there isn't a categorization for just how far underrated they really are. I w...

I'm here because of 120 Minutes on MTV back in the late 80's. MTV used to be a window into the world of the unknown to us kids from rural America back then. If you lived in a small community, devoid of culture in any sense, you found anyone wanting to escape the status quo searching for these w...

    Husker Du - Find Me

    Lyrics:

    Find me a country

    Far from my home

    Sent me on an airline

And they told me where I'm going

Well I know they tried to get me here

    Just to see...

Totally underappreciated song in their catalog. "Find Me" is as good as it gets, whether we're talking Husker Du or practically any one else. Classic Bob vocals, Grant's driving beat, and Greg filling all of the remaining voids in the wall of sound. Utterly outstanding!

Was fortunate enough to catch Bob play this one in Chicago a few months back. I nearly hit the ceiling! I so wish that I could have seen it about 25 years ago! (That would have been something unreal!!!)

Husker Du - Don't Want to Know If you are Lonely

Husker Du's classic single written by Grant Hart from the album Candy Apple Grey released in 1986.

Though some may disagree, I don't know that it ever got any better than this for Grant Hart. This song is his apex. (And he wound up writing an underground classic!) To me, this is Grant at his finest.

This IS the greatest band of all time! (And I won't pretend otherwise.) This is the perfect example of the whole being much greater than the sum of its parts! That's what makes a band, plain and simple.
