About this user

The Torres began in 1963 in Huron, S.D. with a group of high school friends. Fritz Leigh (guitar) and Steve Manolis (guitar) started the group, quickly adding Mike Strub (keyboards) They soon added Gary Myers on bass. In 1965/1966 Rick Gillis (drums), Mark Baumgardner (horns) and Mark Huisinger (keyboards) joined the group. The six played dancehalls in the upper midwest on weekends and spent the summer of 1966 and 1967 "on the road". The group disbanded in the summer of 1967. In 2004 Leigh, Gillis and Myers reunited as The Torres, adding Kent Hill on guitar. In 2007 Mark Baumgardner rejoined the group. Mike Strub rejoined in 2009 and Steve Manolis rejoined in 2011. The Torres have played a series of performances throughout the United Stated. They pride themselves as being an "Authentic 60's Rock Band" and play the music from the "sweer-spot" of rock..."The 60's". In 2011 The Torres were Inducted into The South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They also released a live CD in 2012..."The Torres - Live... Back from the Sixties" on Blue Edge Records.
