@houdbaartot shaolin monks use various forms of kung fu, Bruce's method called jeet kune do incorporates some of these styles but "...hacks away the unessentials" so JKD is not really a form, it's a mixed art without the fancy shit- it's all unnecessary. he was the best no doubt about it..

not as easy as it looks to catch a flying arm at full speed and reply with an elbow. same with high kicks.. sure if you land a high kick to the face you're likely a winner but there remains a lot of "what ifs" regarding your opponent and your own reaction time, flexibility. etc..
