It isn't so much that the concept of God can not be understood, it is that the totality of the nature of God can not be understood because of the unbridgeable gap between an infinite nature and anything else possessed of a finite nature. The concept of revelation and faith is a notion of God providing a finite portion of his infinite nature to us in a way that we can understand and then asking us to trust in that the unknown aspects of God's nature are also truth. This is in contrast to Fundamentalist fools who think that faith means to glorify ignorance of things that are knowable to us via our senses and reason.
