No shit? I can see people not hearing about it or not even knowing who Clarence is, but not knowing the song? That's pretty lame.

Counting Crows - Rain King/Thunder Road
This is the Crows performance of Rain King from the iTunes SoHo CD. Fastforward to 3:30 if you just want to hear Springsteen.
I like it - interesting interpretation. But better than Bruce's? That's just silly.
In particular, he especially screws up ,"you ain't a beauty, but 'ey you're alright, and that's alright with me." Bruce inflects in such a way that he could get away with saying it to a girl. Adam makes it so...

Phish "Thunder Road", Portsmouth, 06/19/11
Recorded on June 19, 2011 using a Flip Video camera.
@platoplates I'm a tremendous fan, having see both dozens of times, but this is one of those instances where the "they wouldn't exist without" claim is totally misplaced. I don't think Bruce/E Street had a major influence - or even a minor one - on Phish. You might as well be sayiing that the Z...

McCartney @ The White House 2010 - GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE - part 1 of 7
Part 1 of 7 - The audio (voices) during the intro are a little low, but the music is OK
What's with the audio? Is the problem at my end? If not, how about taking your stuff down so people don't waste their time with it?.

@hhoh12 You just made my point for me. You made the claim that Frank's body of work is 20 times bigger (though it's since grown to 40 - even dead, the man is prolific!), but he had four times as much time. So what is your point in stating that he put out four times as much material.

@MostlyInhuman Quite honestly, I always thought of Frank's music as nothing but technical, combined with a lot of farce - sort of like a more capable version of Weird Al.

@videocanone Oh, so now Zappa's responsible for Sgt. Pepper now, too. Man, does this guy get around! I heard this theory recently that Frank actually came through some type of portal from the past shortly after composing Beethoven's Fifth.

@dp6876 That's not exactly fair. The Beatles stopped performing after '66 and technology/sound quality became a lot better. Not to mention that Tull didn't have the insane barrage of screaming fans drowning out the music.
And this comes from someone who's favorite band was JT for 20 years!

I disagree that it's a steady decline. If I had to be stuck on an island with music from only one particular decade, I'd take the 90's over the 80's any day. Though the 60's or 70's over would be obvious first choices.
