2 separate guitars played at the same time while also singing by one person.
About Me:
I play a left hand (strung accordingly) and a right hand (strung accordingly) guitar both at the same time. On some tunes I sing while playing the 2 guitars at once. I know there are similar styles out there and each of us are unique in our own way. I came up with my style of playing in 1972. I was not influenced by anyone playing 2 guitars at the same time because I did not know of anyone playing a similar style back then. I did not start playing publicly with this style of playing until around 1987. I do not think other people playing a similar style were influenced by me mainly because I was playing in small coffee shops and clubs in the L.A. area. I was however influenced by not a few guitar players such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, Jimi Page, Segovia, Freddie King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Trini Lopez, Jeff Beck, Pat Martino, Joe Pas, Herb Ellis, Barnie Kessel, Larry Coryell, John McLaughlin, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Mike Bloomfield, Duanne Alman Dickie Betts, B.B. King and others. My favorite all time great guitarist was Jimi Hendrix. After that comes Eric Clapton. There are many, many great guitar players out there today but few stand out from the crowd. I don't care if you play 6 guitars at once. Someone like Estaban makes most of us look like beginners and he plays just "one" guitar extremely well. I play the way I do because I love doing it. Plain and simple. The idea originated by not wanting to have to depend on an accompanist guitar player. That's probably the same reason other guys and gals doing a similar style started doing it as well. Whatever the reason, we all love music and probably could not live without it!!!!!! God Bless.
