hello my hair is dyed red and my natural hair colour is dark brown and i didn't use bleach. if i use this method over my current hair colour plus my roots will it go a brighter red? also does the developer not damage your hair?

i'm kinda confused. i have dyed red hair right now. no bleach. my natural hair colour is a dark brown. if i put this product on top of my dyed red hair would it just brighten my hair colour to a brighter red? even though there is no bleach whatsoever in my hair?
