NESN broadcasts in 1080i which is 60 interlaced fields per second. You can either combine two fields into a frame and get 30fps, which is what is normally done but you lose half the temporal information (i.e. the smoothness). You can use a bobber and get 60 frames per second, but you lose half the vertical resolution. Since Youtube only supports 30 FPS, I use yadif to deinterlace them to 30 fps, but for the slow motion I use yadif mode 1 to get 60 FPS (keeping the smoothness) which is then slowed down to 30.
