Please watch in HD.
I put together all of my Aristocraft 100Ton hopper cars and ran a quick train. This is a follow-up video to the one I made the day before regarding my two Mallet locomotives.
There are 27 hopper cars in this train all pulled by a single PRR Aristocraft Mallet.
The last four Conrail hoppers just arrived today.

This video explores the basic concepts and methods to operate a Live Steam Ruby from Accucraft. Many of the ideas are central to all live steam locomotives in this scale and can be applied to other engines.
Although I have customized my Ruby you will find that it still has the same concepts as a basic as-shipped Ruby from Accucraft.
Emphasis is placed on good preparation and we explore the materials needed for a successful run of a live steam locomotive.
Each item and method mentioned has a reason for it such as there is a reason that I put the steam oil in before the boiler water and I actually have 5 or more brands of steam oil. The reasons for or against any particular item or order of operations are beyond the scope of this introductory video. If you have specific questions please ask them in the comments section below. Perhaps, based on feedback, we may make future videos that will explore some of these topics in greater detail.
Again, these discussions are purposely left out of this video to keep it on topic with an introductory How-To guide. If you have years of experience and own a dozen locos I would not be surprised to hear that you have developed your own methods, but his video is intended for the newcomer.
As with all How-To videos on the Internet you are advised to take all precautions necessary and that we are not liable for any damages that may occur due to operation of any live steam locomotive. Always follow your locomotive's directions from its manufacturer in order to continue to receive support from them.
