I have a problem with these good, English readings. They feel too slow. I once memorized this when I was in love. There seems little passion in most of these readings. Their tonality is wonderful, but too damn slow. This is about a real woman.

There's an old RCA recording of La Boheme highlights with Moffo and Jussi Bjoerling. It was my mother's favorite and I enjoyed it too. Moffo is terribly underrated. The richness and timbre of her voice, as well as its accuracy is wonderful. At her best, she is with the best.

The clarity and the EASE with which she sings these songs. She doesn't "hit" the high notes, she sings them. That's why she's so great. Others could hit higher notes, but no one could sing higher. If you like another singer better, that's just a question of taste.
