@777butch777, the crash was August 12, 1985; JAL Flight 123 from Tokyo to Osaka, in a huge Boeing 747. It is still recorded as the deadliest single-aircraft crash in history. Very tragic, as 520 people were killed. There were four survivors, and I wonder what ever happened to them.

Yep, it's the drain pump — but you can fix it! Tilt the machine backward so it's steady and won't fall on your head. Position a pan underneath to catch water when you pull off the hose at the diverter valve. Remove pump, clean it, then lube the two motor bearings and where the motor shaft enters...
