I think this actually makes the kings gambit look better than it really is because h6 or f6 are both kinda shitty moves for black after Ng5 and are far from being the mainline these days. An immediate d5 is much better and really throws a wrench into whites aggressive plans.

@gunnin9gecko Actually Be7 is the best counter to Bg5. a6 might work too, but you will probably have to weaken your kingside or play Be7 anyway.
