Christy Moore Shine On You Crazy Diamond

From Christy Moore's new album - Listen. The legend sings the Pink Floyd classic

1zappafan1 1zappafan1 commented:

An awful shame. Christy should stick to what he's good at. He's nothing on Dave Gilmour on this, not to mention the lack of textures. Not great.

Steve Reich - Different Trains (Part I)

I tried to post Parts II and III but apparently it infringes copyright laws. *shrug*

1zappafan1 1zappafan1 commented:

That is incorrect, part 1 is about trains primarily before the War in America and the voice samples are from Reich's governess and a Pullman porter discussing the topic. Part 2 is about trains in Europe during the War, with the voice samples are of Holocaust survivors discussing their experiences...

Radiohead - Pyramid Song

Music video by Radiohead performing Pyramid Song. (C) 2006 EMI Records Ltd

Peter Ovtcharov plays Rachmaninoff etude-tableaux op.39 no.8

Recorded at Bavarian Radio studios, 2003

1zappafan1 1zappafan1 commented:

I'm currently learning this piece, I love the tempo and feel of the rubato here. Ashkenazy's interpretation always seemed too fast to me, at this tempo the beautiful sonorities in this piece seem to breathe better.

Most of all, making a piece like this sound this easy is a feat in itself. It is ...

Glenn Gould - Pathetique pt. I (Beethoven)

Sonata No 8 In C Minor Op 13 'Pathetique' - I

Played by Glenn Gould

Written by Ludwig van Beethoven

Video is for listening only.

1zappafan1 1zappafan1 commented:

No Rubato in "classical" playing? Thats rubbish IMHO. There is Rubato in all playing, its just often less pronounced and more subtle in certain eras. Phrasing and "Rubato" are one and the same i think. Certainly in the FF sections of the Grave, "Rubato" is unavoidable for expressive and dramatic ...
