He recorded it on an album for Island records which was never released. A year later one of the Shadows Bruce Welch, who was by this time also a producer, was playing some demo tapes he'd been given. He came across this song and immediately spotted it's potential. Welch played it to Cliff Richard and they recorded it and released it as a single in 1976.
