This was somehow a sad TF - USA messing up big timme on FX, Russia falling all over the place, China falling too... I love Russia finally getting the Team Gold but I'd have prefered them to win with a great performance instead of a showing which was just "better than the others"

@sublunar82 I think the former user was right: if you watch the landing, it's clearly a forward landing. So either she did a half twist in the double back or she actually did a RO-double arabian. Crazy!

I really hope that they will rework her blocking technique - if she doesn't improve that I don't see her doing good DTYs. Sure she might fling them and eventually she'll land one of them on her feet, but that's not what would get her the (relatively) big scores either, since she doesn't get enoug...

@ParanoidAndroidDA yep... I mean neither would probably have become a champion on it, but with the right coach every girl can learn to hit handstands, point their toes and not fall or lose form on their easiest skills... And with the kind of scores Aly can put up on the 3 other events, just a cle...

@Keith77155 In the inverview after these finals she said they had the intention of upgrading both vaults. But at Podium training at worlds 2011 she didn't show the upgraded Amanar...

She looks so thrilled to be there! but her score is really weird... Would anyone care to brake this down to me? She severely missed two handstands and had leg seperation at the beginning of a pirouette, but that's about it IMO. Her dismoutn was lovely, such a tight tuck...

@sareliz86 IIRC That's acutally the definition of an Onodi, she doesn't need to have a flight phase from the handstand position into the standing. It's an "arabian walkover", I think what you described would be more like an "arabian handspring", something like Shayla Worley did in 2008...

She's a good tumbler, too! Choreography is decent and with some more polish and difficulty she could be really good.

@guolishan Event finals for floor and vault (not in the video) She was really great on both events and a lot of people expected her to win the titles or at least have a shot at them... She fell on her second vault and on her third tumbling pass, which is the one you see in the video.

Not to offend anyone, but how did she get 8.6? I thought they deducted falls in NCAA like in elite: -1.0 when showing support... So even if the rest is perfect, she only got 1.4 deduction for two falls... Could anyone explain?

@piskoun Nothing special. She was just surpassed by her teammates... She really is only usable on two events (VT & FX) which are pretty much either covered by the allrounders, who are locks on the teams for major meets, or by other gymnasts who simply score higher. Her last competition was the Vo...

@LaVoix555 She is still training and competed most recently at the Voronin Cup in december but didn't do very well... But none of the girls (except Mustafina) seemed to be giving it very much effort, so we still have hope ;-) She downgraded two passes, but upgraded her turns...

@Swankdor No... A lot of people aren't sure about arabians. What matters is that the somersaults are performed forward. The commentator did an amazing job! I think he's at BBC too (?) but I prefer it like this without the woman commentator. It's so nice that he gives us acctual information but doesn't babble...

Do you remember where you got the Alicia-chow picture where their are hugging and he's apparently comforting her at the Olympics? I've never seen that before!
