A touch screen interface is a natural marketing gimmick, not evidence of evolution. Touch screen is efficient for selecting an item from a list, but inefficent when you have to tap the screen two or 3 times to drill down to a TOC or history key.

One 42" 1080p TV monitor has as much viewing area as three 24" monitors and costs about the same (~$600).
