Actually they're real. The really fat caturpillars have been a huge staple of various tribes, and have even had wars fought over them. Technically it's not a caterpillar, it's a Rhino Beetle larva. The "mutated worm reptilian" is a mole lizard. you can look them up if you wish :)

It depends. If you just have roaches or hydras and lings then it's not. It's simply trying to breach/surround, however, throw things like mutas, corrupters and infestors (infestors are really hard imo) it becomes way different.
