About this user

For those who don't know who I am, I am Phoebe Jane Elizabeth Tonkin. I was born on the 12th of July 1989 in Sydney, Australia.

From the age of 4 I participated in various dance classes including classical ballet, tap, hip hop, and contemporary dance. I was keen to pursue my passion for acting, so I completed various courses at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) at the Wharf Theatre when I was 12. The Courses I did at ATYP included Shakespeare, Script to Stage, Clowning Around, and Musical Theatre. I attended Loreto Kirribilli and Queenwood School for Girls in Balmoral, renowned for its excellent drama department and had private drama classes. I became involved in all school productions including Antigone, White Crane and Venetian Twins. Each year I took part in the school's Shakespeare festival culminating in winning the state final in 2005 in a Midsummer Nights Dream.

My first appearance is on television was on the Australian teen show H2O: Just Add Water, where I played one of the main characters, Cleo Sertori. While I was not a strong swimmer, I worked hard to improve my abilities during pre-production of the show. On October 20, 2007, I attended the Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards , where I presented the award for best band alongside my co-stars Claire Holt and Cariba Heine. I recently starred in the new commercial for the Vauxhall Meriva and Zafira car lines, I am seated on a bus right at the start of it. I have been in various photo shoots for catalogues and magazines such as Girlfriend and Dolly. I have also appeared in Packed to the rafters and Home and Away in 2010. I played the role of Fiona Maxwell in the film Tomorrow, When the War Began. I am now going to star in CW Networks new series The Secret Circle as Faye Chamberlain which premiers in Fall 2011.
