About Me:

Stop and think for a moment... What does it take to be happy? All of us, weather we are famous or infamous, good looking or not, in a relationship or single, financially well off or struggling, have a desire to reach true happiness.

However, regardless of the various combinations we try, we feel that there is always something missing.. Satisfaction it seems, is always temporary...

When the time comes to part ways with what we believe are ours, we realise that we are truly helpless...Eventually, some of us begin to ask The question....Where is the True happiness and peace that can last more than a few minutes or a few days? Where is the freedom... Complete freedom, from the inevitable sorrows of ageing, sickness and death?

I believe that we have the answer to this within ourselves. I believe that being born as highly intelligent beings we have a higher purpose in life. I believe that this purpose is to develop spiritually. To develop our virtues, concentration and wisdom, the qualities of our minds that bring lasting happiness. To reach the state of inner happiness and peace that is indestructible. A happiness and peace that lasts constantly, regardless of change. A state that ends the sorrows of ageing, sickness and death. A state that an intelligent individual can achieve in this life, which can last for a lifetime and beyond.

2550 Years ago the Supreme Buddha found this state of enlightenment and hence the answer to The question of every being in this world. He discovered the unseen truth of the universe, the Four Noble Truths of life :
Suffering - The inevitable Suffering that we all face - Ageing, Sickness, Death, Separation from people or objects that we like, meeting with people or objects we dislike...
Root Cause of suffering - Attachment with desire to impermanent phenomena..
Cessation of suffering - Complete realization of the true nature of the world, Irradication of desire and the achieving of Enlightenment
He discovered the path to the cessation of suffering - The Noble Eightfold path of Virtue, Concentration and Wisdom.

Like a lotus that rises and blooms above the muddy lake, He rose above the darkness and ignorance that had engulfed the world. He completely freed his mind from the defilements of greed, hatred and delusion. Out of great compassion for worldly beings he helped gods and men to cross the river of Samsara. To experience for themselves the ultimate bliss of "Nibbana" in this life itself.

Amazingly, after reaching enlightenment at the age of 35, not a single thought of hatred, anger, jealousy or fear arose in his pure mind. Not one thought of desire for worldly phenomena occurred in his mind. For he had found the ultimate state of happiness and peace of "Nibbana".

Fortunately for us His original teachings were preserved in its purest form in the pali text "Tipitaka" (the Three Volumes) containing the 18000 original Discourses of the Buddha.

It is a marvelous revleation of the true nature of life and the path to everlasting happiness. A clear and practical path with stages which can be achieved in this life by any intelligent individual. So Come and have a look for yourself. As explained in the Dhamma, you will find a true happiness which you have never experienced before...

The Buddha said that "One who sees the Dhamma (Buddhas teachings) sees the Buddha"

I hope that everyone reading this message has the good fortune to realize the truth of the Dhamma in this life itself and experience the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana..

Please note that The Pali "Tipitaka" is the very first Buddhist Canon which was ever written. It contains the pure and original teachings of the Buddha.

I dedicate this channel to the Noble Sangha from Mahamevnawa Monastery who have been a guiding light to me over the years.

If you are interested about learning the teachings please visit and talk to a Venerable Bhante at the monastery.

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple - the philosophy is kindness. --Dalai Lama

It definitely is easier said than done.. Just got to keep at it and not give up. The important thing to remember is that the Buddhas teachings are to be realised in this life itself. so give it your best to follow the eightfold path while you have this very short life as a human being.
