Actually, if you look closely at it, MOST of the motion's in the hands and wrists...even the forearms don't move a whole lot when he's really hitting the tube, and the shoulders almost not at all. The more you move the overall arms, the less control you have re placement of the stick.

That was pretty much the attitude of the 82 corps. 84 as well, for that matter (although, as a complete rookie to the activity and not having gone through the 83 season, I didn't realize it for years)

@mjbari3 Nope....Bob wasn't in the 84 corps. 85 was his first year, I believe....I'd aged out by then.

@ fnloud. I haven't SEEN Dean since this show. Ran into him on Drum Corps Planet once a few years back, but that was it. I don't know if he's on the brassline alum Facevbook page.

The final cut off was a TEEEEEENSY bit ragged...but that's damn near the ONLY flaw in this performance.

I think Star dropped the G horns after 1994...although I don't recall WHEN they went Bb. Given the cost of a new line of brass (especially since top quality Bb is MORE expensive than comparable G), they probable went at least the first year on the 2 valve King inventory they bought for the 1985 ...

They were Gs....Bb didn't get legalized until 2000. A lot of the horns were 3 valvers, tho (except for Star....they were still on the same inventory of 2 valve Kings they bought for the first year in 85)

The tune BD's playing is "Chase the Clouds Away" by Chuck Mangione...BD used it as the closer in 76.

It's not the official corps song the way "Send in the Clowns" is for SCV...AFAIK BD doesn't HAVE an official song (we didn't when I marched the corps in 84), but it was a fave of Jerry's...a grou...
