@roxeola57 I do SOOO agree. It seems like the songs that Mike either sang or wrote were the highlights of the show. This and Joanne were always my personal favorites.

@vanic1987 Lou Monte sang it back in the 50's. It was called Lazy Mary and that particular verse went 'you better marry a fireman, he'll come & go...go & come' so assume it's supposed to have sexual meaning, hence the old man's hand gestures

@Oldgittom It was never my intent to discount Old Vienna from Tauber. So his voice is on old scratchy recordings. It's ok with me. Through the years, I've simply discovered new voices to listen to with a lot less background noise and stress placed on them. I judge nobody, except maybe Irish Teno...

I remember this as a teen listening to the radio. As I recall, it was a pretty big hit back in'61 or '62. The music is lovely. Walter Brennan had a unique voice. Loved him as Grandpappy Amos on the Real McCoys.

@1cathill I agree. Have, ever since childhood thought he was the handsomest man I EVER saw. And even in his later years, he was still distinguished. Clark Gable sucks.

@seekandumayfind I do! I still to this day remember when they did a comedy spoof regarding the song 'Honey' and called it 'welcome to the Honey house' and they went and showed pics of what transpired during the song Honey, by Bobby Goldsboro, including the snotty, balled up tissues on the coff...

I heard what they threw off the bridge was something named 'Jonathan'. Never understood who or what that actually was, but the gay story about BJ was in the movie and I recall it was Ned Beatty who did the assaulting and BJ couldn't live with that so he jumped.
