    1906sfjd 1906sfjd commented:

David Lynch is one of the most brilliant, creative, fearless film makers of all time, a national treasure. When this scene unfolded in the theater, I almost had to jump out of my seat. Una Furtiva Lagrima - L'Elisir d'Amore -Donizetti - Mario Lanza

Mario Lanza, from 1949, has an audition!

    1906sfjd 1906sfjd commented:

Mind boggling. The more one listens to Mario Lanza, the more one is convinced that he is one of the greatest voices ever recording. That emotional, a capella ending is flawless, powerful, musical. Great, great rendition of one Donizetti's masterful aria.

    1906sfjd 1906sfjd commented:

The "best" argument is tough. "Best for me" is - best for me. Caruso sang in the 20th century, so it's hard to say Lanza's Canio was better. Lanza's version is astonishing, and he sang with as much heart and emotion as anyone. I like Pavarotti's, Placido's is riveting, but I love DiStefano's....

    Mario Lanza, a Classic.

    1906sfjd 1906sfjd commented:

I find it hard to comprehend how anyone can love opera and not love Mario Lanza. This is exquisite: one of the great Canio's of all time. Power, beauty, heart break. Mario's passion, voice and technique are breath taking. He is truly one of the greats.

VESTI LA GIUBA - Pagliacci - ENRIQUE CARUSO 1907

    Enrico Caruso (1873-1921)

    Leoncavallo - I pagliacci

    1906sfjd 1906sfjd commented:

I get choked up every time I listen to this, and I've listened to it dozens of times. For me, this is the greatest moment in operatic recording: Caruso singing the aria that may well define his greatness. The pain and betrayal in that voice just floors me.
