I agree. They also had great endurance. You never see Joe Louis puffing and blowing, even in his rare fights that went the distance. And you're right, they could take punishment. Joe decked Tony and Tony bounced right up. Tony decked Joe and Joe bounced back and TKO'd him in the fourth.
