See "Hallelujah" if you like this--first all-African American "talkie", 1929, lots of fantastic voices, including Victoria Spivey (though mostly unknowns). Director King Vidor wanted Ethel Waters for the lead but couldn't get her (she would have been great).

Tornado in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn?
Around 5:30p on 9/16/2010, intense wind hit my part of Brooklyn. Turns out it was a tornado.

my therapist turned me on to esperanza and after seeing this I reckon I don't need to pay for therapy anymore. Esperanza = HOPE. Here's hoping this amazing young talent does not go the same way Amy W (& so many others) did, RIP. WOW
