If you don't hear back from the BPD, I'd file a civil suit against the driver. It seems pretty clear that he intentionally swerved to try and side swipe you guys. Probably doesn't think that bikes should be allowed on "his" roads.
I agree. I've had numerous cars in Oakland (primarily driven by African Americans) intentionally swerve and get as close to me as they actually can without hitting me while I'm biking, then speed off. Since when is it not legal to ride a bike in the road?
The shooting happened in broad daylight and had nothing to do with lights being off. But the main speaker's comments are well taken. Violence in Oakland is a BIG problem, and this one incident puts it much more in the face of a segment of society that normally is not affected by the violence.
