Hey Dan. Just got my new harp 2 days ago. The Special 20 in C, of course. Ordered from Amazon.com and watched lots of videos here on YouTube. LOTS. lol. Yours have been some of the best instructional videos for beginners I've seen yet.
Also, the video called "What's wrong with my harmonica?" about playing the 2nd hole was there today RIGHT when I needed it. Thanks SOOOO much. With your help I've already started playing single notes, bending and now am learning to play tabs that I find around the internet.
I'm still pretty stinky but I can play my basic scale and find my notes now.

Thanks man ! Keep up the good work.

Dan, I started trying to learn to play the harmonica at the age of 52. I just turned 54. I have played in front of people a few times at a thing called Picking on the Square. Anyone can come and play whatever they play. I have 3 books by Jon Gindick, the Jerry Portnoy Blues Master set and J P Allan's 8 dvd set all to help me learn. Some of this was Christmas gifts, anyway I can get single notes. I use u-blocking. I can tongue block and lip block a little. The trouble with lip blocking is I can not move around on the harp and get the single notes like I need to. My question is why is u- blocking bad. Jon and J.P. look down on it. I read that the late Norton Buffalo played by u-blocking and he is very good. HELP please. I have trouble trying to play tabs with lip blocking.
Thanks

Really good lessons Dan.

Qucik question... When bending the notes is it ok to place the tounge over the hole you are drawing though? It seems to bend the notes for me quite well. I'm not sure if this is technically correct or are you supposed to just do it purely through an open hole and moving your mouth to fit?

Many thanks

Frank

Don't need circular breathing to play the harmonica.

redrum427 (1 month ago)
You should make a lesson on circular breathing
