On 7/13/66 Seaboard Air Line trains #45 & #46 hit headon about a mile east of the station.
J.W.Pait of Hamlet was killed in the cab of GP-9 1927.
Locomotives involved, 1911/1927/1963/1971/1979/4027.
5 GP-9's and an F-3.
Took SAL about three weeks to completely clean up the wreckage.

in it... and gets pulled into the tornado funnel,what a monster that would have been...
Lastly it will much better to see BNSF Coal trains and piggyback trains running day and night over this former Seaboard Air Line line, AC4400's and SD-70MAC's as well as SD-70ACe's will be a most welocme sight, not mention the over 500 jobs this would create.
